Have your say…
As your local representative on Wiltshire Council, I have the right to “call-in” any planning application if I think it is more appropriate for it to be decided by a committee rather than a single planning officer. A committee hearing gives residents a louder voice and in my view is more democratic.
I have told the planning officer that I do NOT want them to decide the outcome and have requested a committee hearing instead. I have also asked that ahead of the hearing, councillors who sit on the committee are brought to site so that they can see for themselves the issues with White Street, Rickbarton, All Saints Road and Church Lane and the numerous junctions with the A360.
It is vital that all residents use their voice and share their thoughts on the application. This can be done online using the Planning Portal.
Planning decisions MUST be made on policy and therefore residents’ objections should also reference the same policy. For this reason, it would be sensible for us to share ideas so that you are able to make comments in your own words whilst also incorporating technical points relating to both local and national planning policy.
Let’s work together…
I have started to formulate a planning response which outlines the concerns residents have raised and ties them to specific elements of policy with clear citations. I am keen to share this with you in an efficient manner and be on hand to answer any questions you may have before the consultation period ends.
If you would like me to share my response with you so that you can copy certain policy points into your individual responses, I would be very happy to do so. Simply complete the form on this page which will add you to my email list so that I can send you my draft planning response.
It will also be a good way of me keeping you informed of key dates such as the end of the consultation period, committee meetings etc.
